Meadow WalkTake a guided walking tour of the Petrified Forest's spectacular upper meadow with Naturalist David Storck. During the 1/2 mile round trip tour, David will explain the volcanic activity and petrification of the forest.
Guests will see native trees such as live oak, douglas-fir, madrone, manzanita, rare wildflowers, and a scenic overview of Mt. St. Helena.
Guests will see a 100 foot-high Ash Fall which contains deposits of volcanic material, such as tuff, rhyolite, iron, petrified wood chunks and obsidian.
This walk is rated moderate. For those interested you can also go on an additional nature walk where you go by and through groves of coastal redwoods and tan oaks, not seen on the main trail. This walk is an added 7/10 of a mile and is rated moderately difficult. Please join us for a meadow walk. Meadow walk tours are held every Sunday at 11:00 A.M., weather permitting. Other days and times are available by appointment. Phone: 707-942-6667 or email. |
